What to do in Bainbridge Ohio

Bainbridge is widely considered as one of the best places to live in Geauga County. Let’s take a look at some of the popular activities you can enjoy in this family-friendly community.

  1. Play a tee time with your golf buddies.

When you live in Bainbridge, you’re minutes away from some of the finest greens in Geauga County. The Tanglewood Club’s 18-hole public championship golf course is one of your two options in the township. Designed by William F. Mitchell, Tanglewood’s golf course is spread across hundreds of rolling acres.

Your other option is Grantwood Golf Course, located in nearby Solon. Located just outside Bainbridge Township’s boundaries, Grantwood is home to an 18-hole golf course that’s perfect for golf players of all skill levels.

Both golf courses have their own clubhouses, as well as other golf-related facilities, including driving ranges and pro shops.

  2. Visit the Bissell-Tucek House.

When you’re in Bainbridge, a visit to the Bissell-Tucek House is a must. Located in Heritage Park, this historic Federal-style home was built in the 1830s, making it one of the oldest residences in the township.

One of the most interesting things about the Bissell-Tucek House is that it served several purposes. Aside from being the residence of Justus Bissell for about 20 years, the building also served as a tavern and a post office at one point in history. The last time it was used as a house was in 2000, with Frank and Valeria Tucek being its last residents. Today, the Bissell-Tucek House is managed by the Bainbridge Historical Society and serves as a museum.

Aside from the Bissell-Tucek House, Heritage Park has a pavilion that doubles as a gathering place and a performing arts venue.

  4. Enjoy the fresh air and scenery at Frohring Meadows.

Located in Chagrin Falls, Frohring Meadows is a sprawling 298-acre open space where you can hike or run until your heart’s content. Situated within Frohring Meadows is a hundred-acre prairie, as well as two trails that will lead you to the woodlands. These are the Dragonfly Trail and the Big Bluestem Trail. The latter is perfect for cross-country skiing come winter time.

Frohring Meadows is also home to several habitats. Aside from the wet sedge meadow, there are vernal pools that play host to a number of amphibians. A butterfly garden is also located within here.

  5. Drink glasses of local wine at Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens.

Oenophiles and budding wine lover are all invited to Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens in Chagrin Falls. Aside from being a great venue for special events, Sapphire Creek is home to a modern tasting room where you and other guests can sample wines, craft beer, other spirits, as well as small plates.
