New real estate developments in Chagrin Falls and Greater ClevelandMichelle McQuade | April 7, 2016
Cleveland’s frenzy of development is taking the city to even greater heights. New businesses, major attractions, and massive residential developments have mushroomed in the span of five years.
Big-budget tourism projects are the pride of the city, and Cleveland earned the privilege of hosting the historic 2016 Republican National Convention and the 2017 American Bus Association conference.
The city is transforming; the community becoming more and more the face of the future.
Residents and guests find themselves in the midst of landmark projects that are changing Cleveland’s cityscape for the better.
- A brand-new walkable neighborhood complete with luxury apartments, the best retail options, green spaces and high-end amenities, and a premium hotel with 2,000 well-appointed rooms
- 8 new hotels
- New apartments and lofts rising out of completely remodeled old office buildings
These are just some of the reasons Cleveland is a “city of choice” for residents and visitors alike.
Chagrin Bluffs and Falls Walk
The rise of new residential communities along scenic Chagrin Falls is the most exciting development in Cleveland by far.
One of the most promising is Chagrin Bluffs. This neighborhood overlooking Chagrin River Valley is poised to become the next community of choice. Custom-built homes sitting on 4,000 to 10,000 square feet of land are the ultimate in luxury and style. No wonder developers can’t wait to finish construction on these homes of the future.
The newly established neighborhood of Falls Walk is another growth center to watch.
More new developments
The downtown area is experiencing a surge of new developments, most of them tourism related. The city has invested a whopping $3 billion on hotels, district revamps, and a new convention center.
Families can bond and enrich their knowledge of nature and art in the huge aquarium and museum, respectively. Adults can try their luck in the downtown casino.
The 5-acre Public Square is expected to spur more growth and enhance commerce in the region. It is envisioned as a strategically located mixed-used community where residential units with high-end amenities (e.g. a luxurious rooftop bar and pool) stand side by side with upscale retail stores and green spaces.
This walkable community is expected to open its doors in 2017.
2015 was another banner year in infrastructure.
Phase II of the Flats Redevelopment Project saw the rise of a 1,200-foot riverfront boardwalk and public park. More than 200 upscale apartments and over 10 new restaurant and nightclub spaces made life happier and more comfortable for residents and visitors.
The luxurious, boutique-style Kimpton Hotel Downtown Cleveland opened its doors and services in the historic Schoefield Building on East 9th Street in the downtown area that same year.
An 8-year expansion project
Nothing, however, can match the biggest project of them all – the refurbished Cleveland Institute of Art.
Expansion efforts took eight long years. And the results – a spacious art gallery and a 300-seat auditorium for its Cinematheque alternative film theater – are well worth the wait.
Such state-of-the-art upgrades make this 134-year-old learning institution even more attuned to the needs of today’s thriving art community and the area’s new breed of creative minds.
In maximizing opportunities for growth and development, Cleveland is living up to its sterling reputation as the city of choice. Residents are grabbing every opportunity to live more, learn more. And every new facility and residential community presents a new hope for an even brighter future.
