Moreland Hills is an affluent suburb located just 14 miles to the east of Cleveland. Measuring seven and a half square miles, this village’s small size and expansive homes combine to make it one of the region’s most exclusive communities.

The Moreland Hills Community
Moreland Hills is best known as the birthplace of James A. Garfield, the country’s 20th president, and has a history that goes back to its first settlements in 1815. All around the village are historic landmarks and attractions blending seamlessly with polo fields, golf courses, shopping centers, and other modern amenities.
Most of Moreland Hills residents are successful professionals. According to 2013 Census estimates, the median household income here is over twice that of the Ohio median. Residents are highly educated with a taste for the finer things in life – distinct characteristics that can be clearly felt throughout the village.
Orange Schools and Chagrin Falls Schools both serve residents of Moreland Hills.

Biking and Walking Trails – Moreland Hills features several trails for walking or biking, traversing the village’s most scenic landscapes. A popular choice among locals and visitors is the Berlin Bike Trail. It runs along old train tracks between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, crossing Berlin Lake and traveling through the wooded areas along the lake.
Other well-known trails include the Bridgeway Trail, Chippewa Trail and the County Line Trail.
Hiram House Camp – Ohio’s oldest camp, Hiram House Camp offers year-round programs for kids and adults. Its landmarks include Conestoga Wagons, an 1890s fire station, a farmstead and the Double H Ranch Equestrian Center.
Look About Lodge – This is a log cabin built in 1938 by the Cleveland Natural Science Club using 300 chestnut logs. Nestled in the South Chagrin Reservation, it is right next to a hemlock forest overlooking Sulphur Springs. The Lodge offers natural history programs, concert series, summer camps for children, and more.
The James A. Garfield Memorial Cabin – A replica of the cabin built by the father of Pres. James A. Garfield, it is found at the Moreland Hills Village Hall grounds. It is open on Saturdays from June through September and is an ongoing project of the Moreland Hills Historical Society.
