Russell Township
Whether you are a young family just starting out or a more mature couple looking for a peaceful and laidback community after the kids have moved out, the Township of Russell will satisfy your desire for a comfortable suburban locale in the Greater Cleveland region.
The last official area to be formed in Ohio’s Geauga County, Russell was incorporated in 1818. It was previously known around the region as The West Woods, but local officials adopted the name of the Gideon Russell family to honor the area’s first settlers instead.
Russell is located 25 miles east of Downtown Cleveland and is bordered by Chester Township to the north; Hunting Valley, Moreland Hills, and Chagrin Falls to the west; Newbury to the east; and South Russell to the south.
Genuine country living in Greater Cleveland
Russell Township is a cozy, semi-rural retreat just 45 minutes away from the metropolitan center – an opportunity for homebuyers to embrace laidback, small-town living, while staying close to the conveniences of a modern, urban center.
Having grown to a community of over 5,000, the Township of Russell looks forward to a bright future ahead. Locals have a genuine interest in preserving their area’s thriving natural environment, incorporating protective measures alongside long-term land usage plans. With these in place, Russell residents can expect their generous share of green spaces, hiking trails, equestrian paths, and wildlife preserves.
