Bainbridge
Established in 1817, Bainbridge Township is one of sixteen townships in Geauga County, and was named after Commodore William Bainbridge, a naval hero of the War of 1812 and who also commanded the USS Constitution.
It is bordered on the north by Russell Township; on the east by Auburn Township; on the south by Aurora; on the west by Solon; and on the northwest by Chagrin Falls.

Bainbridge real estate options are mostly limited to single-family residences on wooded lots and generous acreage. In 1922, the very first housing subdivision in Bainbridge opened with Lake Lucerne, which also included a 25-acre man-made lake. It was originally developed to be a summer home colony, but has since then become a year-round residential community that’s regarded as the largest neighborhood in the township.Other communities in Bainbridge include Amber Trails, with luxury homes on expansive lots that offer privacy and seclusion; and Canyon Lakes, with homes and cluster homes on winding streets and cul-de-sacs.

Areas of Interest- Bissell-Tucek House – This historic Federal-style house in Heritage Park is considered one of the oldest residences in Bainbridge. It was constructed in 1835 by Justus Bissell and served as a tavern, post office, and their family home for twenty years. Eight other families lived in the house from 1855 until 2000, the last being Frank and Valeria Tucek.The house was purchased by township trustees in 2001 then later leased to the Bainbridge Historical Society in 2012 to serve as a museum. Named for the first and last families who lived in it, the Bissell-Tucek House was originally located next to the Fire Station and was moved to its current location in 2009.
- The Tanglewood Club – Completed in 1967, the Tanglewood Club features an 18-hole public championship golf course that winds through 130 acres of rolling hills. Designed by William F. Mitchell, the course has bentgrass tees and fairways, as well as what’s been described as “the smoothest greens in all of Northeast Ohio.”The golf course and its clubhouse, which is located along Tanglewood Trail and accessible through Chillicothe Road, recently underwent a $1 million renovation project that included substantial course improvements and remodeled banquet facilities.
- Centerville Mills Park – Located at the intersection of Chillicothe Road and Crackel Road, this passive park was the former site of a YMCA camp, and contains a Dining Hall that’s used as a venue for special events, a disc golf course, and nature trails all around.The Aurora Branch of the Chagrin River flows through the area, and there’s also a lake and some hidden waterfalls along the site where a Mill house used to stand. Currently, the Dining Hall is under renovation, which will be completed by July 2016.
- Heritage Park – The newest park in Bainbridge, Heritage Park is located along Chillicothe Road in the area’s Town Center, just adjacent to the Bainbridge Town Hall. The park’s focal point is a striking pavilion on the park’s front lawn that can be used as a performing venue for bands and musical acts.With a rectangular base and bell-shaped roof that takes inspiration from historic Western Reserve architecture, the unique pavilion certainly stands out from the other parks that usually have eight-sided Victorian-style gazebos. Behind it is the historic Bissell-Tucek house, which houses a museum and is home to the Bainbridge Historical Society.
