  1. Make homemade treats
  2. Fall is an excellent time of year to make pies, caramel apples, flavored popcorn, and other delicious homemade goodies. It’s an activity your kids will love participating in, and they’re sure to love the results even more!

Take a look at our previous blog for modern takes on classic Thanksgiving dishes.

  3. Magical dancing corn
  4. Homemade experiments are always fun, and this dancing corn creation is perfect for the fall season. All you need is baking soda, white vinegar, and some corn kernels to create a chemical reaction that’ll make the kernels bubble up and dance!

  5. Fall leaf painting wreath
  6. Create a colorful fall wreath with your kids by painting acorns, pine cones, and leaves and attaching them to a paper plate or piece of cardboard. See the step-by-step guide on this page.

  7. Pine cone bird feeder
  8. Give your kids an opportunity to connect with nature while looking after the birds around your neighborhood during the colder months!

After cleaning the pine cones you’ve collected outdoors, coat their scales with peanut butter and then sprinkle birdseed over each pine cone. Get some string to hang your bird feeders around your yard or on your porch, and then be on the lookout for feathered friends flying by!

  9. Turkey handprint craft
  10. Involve your kids in your holiday preparations by helping them create turkey handprint decorations for your Thanksgiving table! It’s a great way to encourage the younger ones to tap into their creativity while also developing their fine motor skills.

  11. Clay autumn tree
  12. Have fun creating a clay autumn tree with your kids out of leaves and brown clay (either homemade or store-bought clay works fine). The activity is simple – shape your clay into a tree trunk, give it some branches, and decorate it with leaves to create a beautiful autumn tree!

  13. Fun with pumpkins
  14. Visit your local pumpkin patch and pick out a variety of small pumpkins and gourds with your kids. At home, create a sorting game where your children can sort out all of the pumpkins by shape, color, and size.

  15. Thankful turkey
  16. This activity involves writing down all of the things that bring you joy. Responses are written down on individual “turkey feathers” to create a “thankful turkey.” It’s a fun exercise that will teach toddlers what it means to be thankful.
