Do your Sunday shopping at the North Union Farmers Market, which is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Franklin and North Main streets. Buy fresh produce, potted plants, artisanal goods, tasty snacks, and more. The market will remain open through late October.
North Union is a non-profit that operates certified, producer-only farmers markets throughout Ohio. All participating vendors are vetted thoroughly with an on-site farm inspection conducted by trained staff.
Instill a love for reading in children when you bring them to a reading event at Riverside Park. SummerREAD Storytime is open to children of all ages on August 5, 2022 provided that they are accompanied by a guardian. The event includes animal-themed stories, songs, arts and crafts, and other fun activities to spark their imagination.
GCUFF showcases independent films by up-and-coming talent and underrepresented filmmakers. This nine-day festival traditionally takes place in September and provides a platform for the discussion and appreciation of diverse filmmaking. Aside from film screenings, the festival also includes panel discussions, symposiums, workshops, and parties.
Known as the largest outdoor event in Greater Cleveland, Oktoberfest runs for two weekends in September. The festival takes place at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds each year, offering live music, traditional Eastern European food, and of course, the best local and German beer.
Highlights include the Best Oktoberfest Microbrewery Competition, which lets the crowd sample the entries and vote for their favorite, and the Wiener Dog Races, in which dachshunds wiggle their way to the finish line.
Fun fact: Greater Cleveland is home to over 300 garlic varieties. Clevelanders come to Shaker Square each August to sample garlic-laden gourmet dishes as well as buy fresh produce, artisanal cheese, and craft beer from on-site vendors.
Known as one of the hottest culinary events in Northeast Ohio, the festival attracts chefs, restaurateurs, and foodies from all over the state. Attendees can look forward to live music, cooking classes, and presentations from more than a dozen local garlic growers.
The Cleveland Garlic Festival is a fundraiser for the North Union Farmers Market, which aims to make fresh and nutritious food available to the residents of Northeast Ohio.
