The Best Places to Go and Things to Do in Moreland Hills, OH

From charming nature trails to one-of-a-kind dining, Moreland Hills offers numerous things to see and do. Here are some of our favorites:

EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The Polo Field hosts some of the biggest horse riding events and dog show competitions in the region. The Hunter Jumper Classic and the PHA Horse Show are extremely popular. Other times of the year, you’ll find an eclectic mix of runners, dog walkers, and families enjoying the open space and sunshine. There’s also a trail that winds around the Chagrin River floodplain.

You can also visit the Forest Ridge Preserve, a 142-acre nature park located near the Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s headquarters. Scenic and well-maintained, it offers residents 3 miles of challenging hiking trails across hilly landscapes and tranquil ponds. Since it is usually less crowded than the Polo Field, the Forest Ridge Preserve is perfect for fishing, dog-walking, and picnicking.

Members have access to a myriad of exclusive golf events and tournaments, including the Chagrin Valley Cup – an annual two-day Ryder Cup-style competition – and the Green Coat Classic, the CVCC’s biggest member-only tournament.

Your kids can join in the fun as well. The Chagrin Valley Golf Academy, for example, offers a Junior Golfer program, league, and tournament, as well as a Ladies Rookie Club and group clinics. The CVCC Swim Team also holds competitions for young swimmers.

GO CAMPING AT THE HIRAM HOUSE

Established by George A. Bellamy in 1896, the Hiram House was Ohio’s first “Settlement House,” a hallmark of the reformist social movement that occurred between the 1880s and the 1920s. It sought to provide a variety of health, recreational, and educational opportunities for tenement-bound families.

Although the original Hiram House closed in the 1940s, its operations continued here in Moreland Hills, with a greater emphasis on outdoor recreation and education programs for children. Your kids can sign up for a day camp, a junior day camp, or an overnight camp, where they can learn various survival skills, orienteering, and explore activities like archery, canoeing, climbing, and fishing.

HAVE A SOPHISTICATED DINING EXPERIENCE

Whether it’s your monthly family brunch or the quarterly office dinner party, Flour Restaurant is Moreland Hills’ go-to establishment for relaxed yet elegant dining. Opened in 2011 by Chefs Paul Minnillo and Matt Mytro, Flour offers exquisite Italian comfort food and an unparalleled level of service. Local favorites include their wood-fired margherita pizza and homemade lamb rigatoni.

And when it comes to fine dining, it’s always about the full experience – from the harmony of flavors on the plate to the cultivated ambiance of the space. And no restaurant understands this better than Cru Uncorked, with their immaculate selection of French New American cuisine, extensive wine list, and tastefully curated dining rooms. You can book a reservation here.
